October-National Women's Small Business Month

October-National Women's Small Business Month

Posted by Haylee Moran-Rowen on

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the blog!

October is National Women’s Small Business Month. W.E.W Cosmetics is excited to be a part of this celebration! To get even more fired up about the recognition and progress women are making, especially in the business world, here are 3 statistics about women’s small businesses:

“1. In 1972, women only owned 4.6% of all businesses in the United States. As of 2019, women-owned 42% of all businesses.

Women-owned businesses grew 21% from 2014 to 2019, and businesses owned by women of color grew at double that rate. Numbers for black women entrepreneurs grew the fastest, with an increase of 50%. In fact, as of 2019, women of color accounted for 50% of all women who owned businesses.
There are nearly 13 million women-owned businesses in the United States, employing 9.4 million workers and generating revenue of $1.9 trillion.” (2019, Bushnell, https://www.business.com/articles/womens-small-business-month/)

We want to take a moment and give a big thank you to everyone who has supported W.E.W Cosmetics thus far. It takes a lot of work to run a business, and most business owners, especially when they are just getting started, usually work another full-time job at the same time. We would like to give a massive shoutout to Founding CEO Liz Watson for how hard she has been working on W.E.W Cosmetics. Liz has been working on creating W.E.W for a year before officially launching in August 2021. At the same time, she has been going to school full time, working full time, and juggling all that comes with being a woman, and a human being living in today’s world. Thank you Liz for your dedication and commitment to creating the change you want to see in this world.

Inspired by October’s national recognition of women’s small businesses, W.E.W is excited to announce our newest social media campaign: #ShoutoutSaturday!
W.E.W’s mission is to bring women together and empower them, and part of doing that means doing our best to support other women however we can! W.E.W’s goal with this new campaign is to provide a place where small women-owned businesses have the opportunity to be recognized and shared. We will have a highlight on our Instagram dedicated to saving those shoutouts stories, which our followers can use as a resource to find small women-owned businesses that best suit their needs. We are super excited to get this campaign rolling, and can’t wait to see the businesses we are able to share within our community.

Women Empowerment Series continues November 9th! We are excited to share the story of body sculpting queen @Dolledoutwithlindz.

Thank you for joining us for another blog post, and can’t wait to see you all in the next one.
